Frequently Asked Questions
Is amerigo a platform or a software tool?
amerigo is a knowledge platform. Its not an off-the-shelf software tool that is used only once. amerigo is an expert system for the management of your supplier network.
Where does the name amerigo, come from?
In the 16th Century, amerigo Vespucci had the idea that the "New World" was actually a continent and so it was named after him. The discovery of new territories, new associations as well as the management of changes in structures and relationships hold, including today's economic questions, both risk and potential.
Does amerigo manage the operative processes of my supplier network?
Compared to earlier Supply Chain Management tools, amerigo is geared towards strategic supplier and sourcing management. For operational control (e.g. for supplier audits) measure plans are contained in amerigo.
Is amerigo ready-to-run software?
In principle yes, it’s important, first of all, to analyse ones requirements before one uses the software. amerigo can be configured to fit the individual requirements of companies.
Which size of firm is amerigo applicaple?
amerigo is really applicable to any firm regardless of size. The decision to deploy amerigo is not the size of the company, rather the meaning of supplier networks (e.g. Puchasing) for a company.
Is amerigo applicable across branches of the same company?
amerigo's underlying data model is so general and flexible that it can be applied across all branches. The extensibility of amerigo makes branch specific adaptation possible without problems.
Is the display in amerigo standardized or is it tailored to the needs of the customers?
Depending on the point of view, individual constraints cause amerigo to display particular parts of the supplier network although new graphics will always be produced. You see as much as you want to see!
How is the data entered into the system?
The data can be entered manually through a web form, e.g. the supplier assessment page. It's also possible to link already existing data sources, e.g. stores management, e-Procurement. That could happen using a web service or Excel-Import-Function for example.
Will the network display cards be produced automatically by amerigo?
Yes, amerigo uses special algorithms to automatically produce the cards (Supply Chain Maps).
Besides graphical displays (Cards), is there display formats for analysing results?
Yes, besides the card display there is also data form views and datasheet views available.
What is Supply Chain Mapping?
For amerigo, Supply Chain Mapping means, the analysis and visualisation of a Supplier Network with the goal to achieve an overview of existing relationships between companies and the properties of those companies from a strategic point of view.
What's the difference between supplier assessment and Supply Chain Mapping??
Supplier assesment only focuses on direct suppliers and gives you key data on deliveries or quality of service. amerigo shows you the whole supplier network even with your 2nd tier, 3rd tier and further suppliers. The emphasis is on the relationship between suppliers. A relationship in amerigo can be built up, with or without specific product data.
